This is how we Serve the Transit Rail Industry

As a nonprofit created by and for the industry, our work is grounded in service, collaboration, and the shared goal of a stronger, safer, and more resilient transit rail sector in Canada. Our initiatives respond to real, sector-identified needs.

Each project reflects our belief that practical solutions, grounded in industry insight and delivered collectively, are essential to progress.

A Platform for Debate, Discussions and Growth

Webinars & Workshops

Through online and in-person events we provide a platform for discussion about

Safety, Innovation, Sustainability,

Cost-efficiency, National Standards,

Best Practices, and Lessons Learned

These are the Pillars of Our Work.

Aligning Our Mission and Values

In support of a more effective, future-ready transit rail system in Canada, TRACCS is engaging directly with leading voices across the industry, as well as with public-sector decision-makers who share a commitment to advancing the public interest.

Our objective is to move beyond observation and toward the development of practical, sector-informed recommendations that can lead to meaningful improvement.

Central to this effort is our coordination of the STAR workshops, which focus on Standards, Training, and Assurance in Rail. These sessions bring together diverse stakeholders to examine critical challenges, explore areas of alignment, and collaboratively identify solutions. The resulting reports are action-oriented: they do more than diagnose—they chart a path forward informed by expertise from both industry and public service perspectives.

Through these and other initiatives, TRACCS continues to foster dialogue, promote collaboration, and contribute constructively to the advancement of a safer, more standardized, and better-supported transit rail industry in Canada.

What does STAR stand for?

STAR Standards (1).png

We are addressing the urgent need for national standards to build, operate and maintain passenger rail through collaborative work and discussions at every level.

STAR Training (1).png

Training

Comprehensive and updated training is essential to the betterment of our industry.

STAR ASSURANCE (1).png

Rail assurance is essential to ensuring that rail operations, systems, and practices consistently meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and accountability. In an industry where public trust is critical, assurance demonstrates that the sector is proactive in upholding standards and transparency. It strengthens credibility with regulators, customers, and communities alike, showing that rail is not only dependable today but also committed to continuous improvement.

STAR REPORTS.png

These reports are the product of in-depth research and the collective expertise of leading professionals in the rail and transit sector. Developed through a series of focused workshops and industry discussions, each report distills complex issues into clear, actionable insights. By combining rigorous analysis with diverse perspectives, we aim to provide resources that support informed decision-making and advance best practices across the industry.

STAR Workshops

The STAR workshops — dedicated to Standards, Training, and Assurance in Rail — serve as a platform for the industry to come together around some of its most pressing issues. These sessions convene a wide range of stakeholders, creating space not only to examine challenges in depth but also to identify where interests and priorities align. By fostering open dialogue and collaboration, the workshops aim to move the sector toward practical, shared solutions that strengthen safety, performance, and accountability across the rail system.
