Cyber Security for Transit Systems Operators

Cyber attacks on the rail and transit critical infrastructures sectors are ever-increasing. Vulnerability grows with the convergence of operational technology (OT) and information technology (IT).  News reports of ransomware attacks targeting critical infrastructure have demonstrated the rising threat of ransomware to operational technology (OT) assets and control systems.  It is important for Transit system operators and owners be one step ahead of the new cyber threats.

In this workshop participants will:

•  Understand the applicability of APTA Recommendations to transit systems.

•  Learn about US DHS Defence in Depth strategy and how it applies to Transit systems.

•  Learn Cyber Security Governance and levels of maturity

•  Learn about the differences between OT and IT and the frameworks used to select an appropriate cyber security program.

•  Learn about effective cyber system categorization and its benefits.

•  Distinguish between Cyber Security Technical and Non-Technical Controls.
