Job Description


MISSION/MAIN DUTIES

  • Serve as a liaison between Indigenous communities and project teams, integrating environmental considerations into railway projects and ensuring culturally appropriate engagement.

  • Facilitate consultations, workshops, and transparent communication regarding environmental impacts, respecting Indigenous protocols and perspectives.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of environmental impact mitigation plans tailored to Indigenous contexts.

  • Inform and train engineering teams on incorporating Indigenous traditional knowledge and fostering respectful engagement.

  • Ensure regulatory compliance and prepare clear reports and recommendations, accurately reflecting the views and expectations of Indigenous communities.


PROFILE/SKILLS

  • Education : University degree (Bachelor’s) in Environment, Social Sciences, Indigenous Relations, Project Management, or a relevant field.

  • Years of experience : 5 to 10 years experience in a similar role.


TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • Understanding of environmental and regulatory issues in the railway sector in Quebec.

  • Experience organizing public or community consultations.

  • Proficiency with office and document management software.

  • Basic knowledge of Indigenous law and community engagement policies.

  • Knowledge of an Indigenous language is an asset.

  • Clear verbal and written communication skills, both in French and in English.

  • Excellent intercultural communication skills.

  • Strong empathy and active listening ability.

  • Ability to negotiate and resolve problems collaboratively.

  • High ethical standards, diplomacy, and respect for confidentiality.

  • Aptitude for building and maintaining trust-based relationships with stakeholders.
